Divine Intervention is a narrative film that combines 3D animation and live-action footage to weave together religious ritual and digital technology into an allegory about anxiety, salvation, and the transfer of consciousness.
The film follows Marina, a young woman who seeks help from a spiritual medium to untangle her hair. She gradually realizes that what is knotted is not only her hair but also her own state of mind. The medium leads her to a mysterious place known as the "Soul Cabin." Before entering, Marina must complete a ritual: she must find a blue-haired person and consume the liquid contained within their head. As the ritual unfolds, she discovers that the Soul Cabin is not a place of healing, but a transitional space where consciousness is extracted, preserved, and transformed. In the end, her consciousness is uploaded into a vast digital network, blurring the boundary between the soul and data.
By placing religious ritual alongside digital technology, Divine Intervention reflects on the ways people seek spiritual refuge in times of anxiety. Through a visual language that moves between the physical and the virtual, the film considers what kind of relationship might emerge between humans and technology when consciousness itself can be preserved and replicated.
